The writer in me
I consider my so called "writing career" as a big secret...since I wasnt known to anyone as writer. In UST, I was known as the little miss librarian, my former classmates in pe used to call me ate ponkan, For my family, Im just known to be a passionate singer(just to sing the do-re-mi). My friends, as a jolly, and "pa-tweetums", weird thinker for my co-majors, and a sort of "ate" for my 5-year old nephew.Writing was inappreciable for me...or I guess, it was just my fault not to develop this prowess that I posses.
As I ponder, I came to realize that maybe this unknowing gift came from my great passion in reading. Reading was my favorite activity whenever times leads me to boredom. And as what Lord Byron once said, "Reading and Writing goes hand in hand"...and this is what I believe and holds on to when the question of how my writing life began.
When I was in grade school, I became the assistant editor in chief of our school paper. And with this position, I was assigned to write the editorial section for each issue that will come out.I even joined Young Men Christian Association's journalism contest and it was my first time to grab an award for the catergory of editorial writing. When I graduated in grade school, I stopped writing for a while, but thinking over and over again those things that makes me happy wont stop me from doing it all over again. During my third year in High School, I tried my guts again to apply in our school paper organization and took their entrance test.
The entrance test was not that easy for me. The title of the essay that we had to write was "The writer in Me", and as I grab the pen in my hand, I find it hard to start, since It's been quite a long time since I forsweared my pen in writing. A minute or two, ideas came crossing my mind and gave me the strength to start scribbling my pen, and from then...I reunited with my writing career...
Writing never ceases, its like an old friend that when you once lost it, fate finds a way for you to find your way back to it. Writing has been my bestfriend (as I consider) because through it, I am able to express my thoughts, feelings, criticisms that I wasnt able to tell nor share to anyone. It is a great and reliable fortress wbom I can run to and show the real Mia inside. And no matter what happens, I wont stop from writing, for as what James Baldwin said:"My ambition is to write"
And I guess thats the real writer in me...
or should i say, The writer in Me.
